How to Setup Genesis Theme Settings Video Transcript:
Okay so in this video I’m going to show you how to quickly setup your Genesis child theme that you just purchased. Alright, let’s get started. Okay so here we are in our dashboard, and I’m going to show you how to do some quick customization on your StudioPress child theme. So in order to do that you’ll want to go to the left hand side and you’ll want to click on Genesis and then you’re going to see this setting called ‘Theme Settings’ go ahead and click on that. Once you get to there you can do a couple of things here. You’ll want to leave this checked ‘Enable Automatic Updates’. That way anytime there’s a new update to the Genesis framework or your theme it will notify you that way you can constantly stay up to date the latest revisions.
The other thing you could do you could change the color style. In this case original default color style is red, I actually want to change it to blue. So I’m going to go ahead and select this and you can also change your layout. Say you want your sidebar to be on the left hand side or maybe you want double sidebars. It’s really up to you how you want to do it. I like the single sidebar on the right hand side so I’m going to leave mine the same. The other thing you could do is you could leave breadcrumbs. Breadcrumbs are just basically little navigation buttons on the top of your blog post to kind of help people get back to where they started just in case they went clicking throughout your page and they don’t know how to get back. In my case I’m going to leave this unchecked. I’m just going to leave it where people can just navigate through the top header navigation menu.
Also, you can adjust your comments and your track backs so basically comments, most people like to leave comments available on blog post, you can leave comments available on blog pages it’s really up to you and your preference. I like to leave my comments available on posts and not leave them available on pages. So I’m going to leave this the same. Track backs are basically when people are linking back to a certain blog post this will just notify you and let other readers know whose been linking back to your post. I like to leave this enabled and I’m going to leave this checked. Okay so once you have all that I’m going to go ahead and click SAVE SETTINGS and there you go. Now you’re able to customize a little bit of your theme and we’ll see you guys in the next video.
